“Don’t you dare tell me I don't know my own son’s face.” Familiar rage seethes at the base of his lungs. “Don’t you dare. Don’t you ever. I knew it against all reason. I knew it when it was impossible for it to be in front of me. I knew it faked and warped and desecrated and delusional and spitting mad. I knew it when it killed me to know it, to believe it to be true—”
“Describe it,” Dick challenges.
“I knew his face three years dead beneath a domino. I knew it as he carved a chunk of flesh from his own scalp and cursed my name…” His fingertips drift to a spot two inches behind his ear. Is that uneven texture the sign of a years-old scar, or just a tangle of hair?
(Or: Jason and Bruce get bodyswapped. It takes two full days for anyone to point it out to them.)

Summary
“Lord Megatron,” Soundwave greeted.
Megatron grunted. He lumbered over until he stood by Soundwave, so close that their arms brushed. Soundwave swiftly readjusted his position, standing to attention with his arms crossed behind his back. He knew many of his lord’s moods, and he didn't particularly feel like becoming a hole in the wall. There was a lot that he could get away with — more than, say, Starscream — but he had enough self-respect to play it safe.
OR; Five times that Soundwave fell in love with Megatron, and the one time that he regretted it.

Summary
When Aeschylus had sacrificed an old black goat to Ares, his prayer had been for an old soldier to join the city guard of the island of Aegina. Someone with strong nerves and the calm that came from many campaigns. Someone who'd put away the idea of glory. Someone who could handle the wealthy citizens, drunk sailors and visiting Athenians.
That was why he'd prayed to Ares. Also, he couldn't very well pray to Athena given the problems with Athens. Ares was a god of city guards, or so he'd heard. So, he gave Ares an old goat.
The man mountain who applied for the job was a bit slower on the mental oars than he'd hoped, and Aeshylus couldn't blame the man, boy really, for Aeshylus' inability to keep his eyes off the muscles on Thêritas of Thrace's muscles. But beggars couldn't be choosers.
As it happened, it was fortunate that he hired Thêritas. Practically a miracle.

Summary
The roof of the barracks is the best place to be on nights like this. Most of the soldiers are out drinking or whoring, and the ones left behind are timid or annoying - and most importantly, not willing to climb up here and bother him. It means Ogata can be completely alone for once, his jacket off and folded up beside him with his cap, a cigarette in his mouth as he looks up at the stars.
Except his night alone is interrupted by an all-too-familiar smile between two identical moles.
