He panted as he ran down the street. Even with the anxiety twisting his stomach into knots and the wind chilling him through his hoodie, he still had a wide smile on his face. With a bus ticket on his phone and a bag slung over his shoulder, he felt free. He got onto the bus and breathlessly greeted the driver. With the thump of his bag on the floor, with the sound of the bus moving, with his hands shaking in his lap, he felt free. He closed his eyes and rested his forehead on the window, and let out a deep breath. When he opened them, he gazed up at the deep blue sky above.- Language:

Summary
Anwyn Bright is not living his best life. His only real friendship has been on the rocks, the not so subtle concern that he and his mom could get evicted is constantly looming, and worse yet – his mom is sick with the same disease that killed his grandfather two years ago.
It’s times like these he wished he had a dad. While disappointing, he’d come to the same conclusion most people did; teen moms were often unlucky in the fact a lot of dads just don’t stick around. It isn’t until his mom is under threat of a long term stay in the hospital that he learns the truth.
His dad doesn’t even know he exists.
After his mom desperately reaches out, it’s a question of whether they can get along, and maybe even become a real family.
