Summary
“So, you’re not telling Jackie, huh?”
Shauna freezes, back in her thoughts. Jackie can’t know, she’d worry too much, tell Shauna to stop. She wouldn’t get it, not like Tai might, and she definitely wouldn’t leave it alone like Tai might. She’d be mad that Shauna was doing something larger than her, and without her at that.
But Shauna knows that she would also worry. She would watch that action and she’d hate it, hate watching Shauna like that. Shauna was always the one to clean Jackie’s scraped knees, Jackie hated the sight of blood or bruises but when it became needed, she got over it. Makes sense for someone playing a contact sport. But that worry is there whenever Shauna gets tripped during a game or falls at practice.
“Would you tell Van?” Shauna answers, meeting Taissa’s gaze.
Shauna watches Tai think and so badly wants to see what’s going through her head. After a little bit, Tai nods and Shauna swallows.
“I would,” Tai starts slowly. “But that’s different from you and Jackie.”
