Summary
When Beatrice Zhao, aspiring art conservator, gets the news that her employer won’t sponsor her work visa, she has to make a decision: return to England and subject herself to the purview of her overbearing (and homophobic) parents or try something reckless, desperate, and most certainly illegal.
Ava Silva’s main concerns are:
i) getting out of swim practice early
ii) making it to her volunteer shift on time
iii) what to eat for dinner
That is until her friend Camila shows up with a huge favor to ask.--
“Bea.” Ava tilts forward to take her hands. “You are literally one of the most interesting people I have ever met.” Beatrice opens her mouth but Ava pushes on. “I have loved getting to know you over these past weeks and I can’t wait to deceive the American government with you. I am all in.”
Beatrice is blushing furiously.
“Thank you,” she chokes out.
“The pleasure is all mine, babe.”

Summary
Thank God for her sneakers or else this would have looked more like she was pulling a dead body. Oh fuck. Did it look like she was carrying a dead body? Her pace increased out of pure fear. This literally could not be happening right now. She was done for. Ava’s fans would kill her. They wouldn’t even question her. They would tear her apart limb from limb in some sadistic medieval torture session while chanting along to one of their idol’s songs.

Summary
“C2 to Halo, do you copy?” A new voice said, interrupting Beatrice’s trivia game about the types of clouds in the air. Not recognizing the voice or the name, Beatrice thought it was a kid. “C2 to Halo, do you copy?” it repeated just as insistently.
“I copy,” she said, bringing her walkie talkie from her hip to her lips. “Who's Halo?” she asked.
“You are! Your balloon is big and yellow!”
Beatrice rolled her eyes. Definitely a kid, dialing into the wrong frequency. It wasn’t the first time and it wouldn’t be the last, so half exasperatedly and half gently, Beatrice clarified: “You can just call me Beatrice. Who's this?”
“Your new C2, reporting for duty, Bea!” the voice chirped.
Beatrice gave it a moment. First, to panic, then to experience discontent. “You are late.”
OR the one where Beatrice is a Hot Air Balloon pilot in a very small village called Great Haywood, and Ava crashes back into Beatrice's life like a very rough landing.
