Summary
Nezu spends his life among humans, yes. He made a career out of training the best of them to save, to fight, to be good. Because Nezu has seen what humans can do when left alone to choose their own path. They murder. They torture. They experiment. He needs to make sure they are raised with proper morality, that the good traits are the ones nurtured. But part of him will never be able to fully let down his guard around any human ever again. Part of him will always burn for revenge.
When a random kid’s quirk awakening brings him a not-quite-human child with all the same scars he saw in the mirror, figuratively anyway, Nezu finds himself experiencing something brand new.

Listen, I love Dadzawa just as much as the next guy (and he’s still here, no worries!), but I feel like we are collectively missing an opportunity for Rat!Dad Nezu. The barrel adventure becomes somewhat of a tradition in the Monkey D. Family - and when we refer to the Monkey D. Family, we look at the ASL children and their assorted uncles, not the elder Monkey Ds who are most often than not out of the picture. No one is quite sure how it first happened or why, especially since Luffy’s explanations had been vague at best, but since then, it kept happening. But we digress… What exactly is the barrel adventure?

Or: A One Piece Fix-it AU where instead of just chucking his vivre card at Luffy and leaving, Ace also makes a vivre card for Luffy. Unfortunately for Ace, Luffy is a chaotic menace who can't stay out of trouble. Ace has a crewmate killer to catch, but he can't seem to get three feet away before Luffy's vivre card bursts into flames and does the weirdest shit imaginable. Needless to say, his revenge quest against Blackbeard is side tracked.
