April straightened in her seat, eyes nearly flying from her socket in shock. She could tell how flustered the boy was from his posture; his tapping thumb joined by the rocking of his leg, jostling him in his seat, his other hand twirling the root of one of his locs. She was having a hard time catching his eye, he refused to look up from the floor.
“What about – ?”
“Of course,” he quickly interjected, finally looking at her, his expression a little wild, “it would be very transactional. It wouldn’t even really be considered an actual relationship by all accounts. It’d be just for show.”

April is having a problem getting a persistent suitor off her back. She's nearly at her wit's end when a simple misunderstanding snowballs into her entering a fake relationship with her best friend. A revised version.
