    "Happy tears for the couple, I hope?" Next to her Anthony sipped on his glass of whiskey. Penelope dared a small glance his way. She knew that if she tried to speak all her strength and resolve would disappear so she just nodded. A forced smile on her face praying Anthony wouldn't notice but he did. "I think you might need this more than me" he handed her his glass and she took it down in one gulp.

    No one was looking her way, no one ever did so she bee lined it to the bar. She would need more than just one glass of whiskey if she wanted to survive tonight. But one person did notice. Anthony Bridgerton, the wrong Bridgerton.

    Penelope woke up alone. Alone and in her childhood bedroom. For the third day in a row. Her hand slid down to her lower abdomen. The life that was supposed to be fluttering there did not exist yet and neither did the beautiful children that she had already given birth to.

     

    She had three days to accept that something had happened that had sent her back to just before her first season. She wished she had more time, but with having to wake up every day in the wrong house, the wrong bed, without her husband and children—Penelope had to accept that her current present was her new reality.

Colin had promised to look out for her, told her she was special to him, then not 15 minutes later was amongst his friends deriding her in a fashion Cressida Cowper would have cackled at. Her mother had worked with her late father’s successor to scam the Ton out of God only knew how much money, whilst gambling with her sister’s reputation by engaging her to said criminal.

    The chips have fallen where they may and now Penelope must put things in motion. This was not one of her favorite plans but it served its purpose and aided with a big non-Whistledown problem.

    Secrets have hurt her family and hopefully she can clear the air.
