The hug is familiar, and yet… not.
Other Derek isn't as tense as his Derek. Other Derek leans into the hug wholeheartedly whereas his Derek always seems to keep a sliver of distance between them.
When Stiles finally pulls away and turns to his Derek, he sees the alpha glaring at them.
“What, I can’t give him a hug?” Stiles asks. “You just told him his whole family is dead.”
“His family is alive,” his Derek says. “Mine is the one that’s dead.”
Oh. That’s not anger in Derek’s face. It’s very cleverly concealed hurt.

Derek rips his gaze away from a familiar figure and turns to stare at Boyd with innocence.
“What?”
Boyd rolls his eyes, not fooled in the slightest.
“I saw you looking at him. Again.”
Derek quickly and subconsciously glances at the man he’d been staring at before Boyd interrupted him. “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Derek says after refocusing on his friend and coworker.

The confused look that crossed Scott’s face now was kind of annoying. Scott looked at Stiles, then back at Derek, and then at Stiles again.
