    Summary

    “How’s your arm?” he says.

    “How’s your pill addiction?”

    Langdon’s eyes narrow. “Really?”

“Oh, you walked right into that one, buddy.”

Maybe someone laced the coffee and that’s why she’s even more snippy than usual. Langdon is still her senior resident. Not that she can bring herself to care much.

Trinity wants to move on, but she doesn't know how to.

    Summary

Trinity glances back at the creak of the door opening. Ah, great. It’s Langdon. Who looks about as unhappy to be here as she is to see him.

“Here to convince me to jump?” Trinity asks, turning back to the skyline. The sun has long-set, but the city is practically one big night light. Probably makes for an ugly smudge of yellow from space.

“Not ideally,” Langdon says, face twisting a bit as he awkwardly steps through the roof railing. Trinity’s pretty sure he knows not to touch her, but she shifts a couple inches further away anyway.

A strange Trinity & Langdon conversation on the roof after a difficult shift.

    Summary

“You can’t honestly think of marrying her to a Witcher. She’ll be miserable,” Lambert argues, wishing Gwen or Aubry were here to back him up. They’re the reasonable wolves. Geralt might listen to them. “And we can’t give her any heirs, if that is what Kristian is after.”

“And here you have the reason you’re not in the council. This is not a matter of her happiness, but of far greater things,” Yennefer snaps back while she fiddles with the megascope in the corner.

“Well, maybe it fucking should be,” Lambert hisses back, just to be contrary. He’s not much looking forward to the smell of fear being constantly present in Kaer Morhen’s walls.

Yennefer throws him a glare that would have lesser men tremble in their boots. “Then maybe you should marry her, if that’s so important to you.”

“Maybe I should,” Lambert’s mouth says before his brain can catch up with him.

    *

After Redania unsuccessfully tries to conquer the lands of the Warlord of the North, a marriage treaty is arranged between Iryna, Princess of Redania, and Lambert of the Wolf School. Yet, said princess is not at all happy about this and decides to fight her future husband every step of the way.

    Summary

He almost jumps at the sound as his dog, Lud, barks in surprise. Henryk quickly stands, moving to answer his door, and nearly gapes at the sight.

Magda looks up to him, her bluish lips shaking.

“Oh, little duck,” he says softly, quickly ushering her inside. He corrals her to the chimney side; she’s shaking like a leaf. “Why are you outside?”

“Papa said I was bad,” she quietly answers, and Henryk hisses between his teeth. “Said I had to sleep in the barn until I was good again… but last time I was good only after a week, and I’m so cold, Sir Henryk.”

This is sad. Like really, really sad. Inspired by Shireen Baratheon's death in GOT, just so y'all know. Major Child Death, child abuse and grief.

EDIT: Now with an alternate ending in chap 2, still sad but more bitersweet for the interested.
