Theodore Atlas Nott knew he was destined to die young. That was… fine… he supposed.
To be fair, he’d seen death… a lot of death. His mother died before his eyes when he was just a wee lad, murdered by his own father no less. His favorite house elf was beheaded shortly thereafter. What fuckery, what trauma. Mind healers would have so much fun with him. He knew, one day, Thoros Nott would kill him too. So what was the point? Why send him off to school? Why not just end it all?
Death seemed more peaceful than being the Nott heir.
But shortly after boarding the Hogwarts Express he saw a golden-eyed siren, bountiful, wild curls flowing down her back and sun kissed, freckled skin. He watched from his compartment, heart hammering in his chest as she stood at the snack trolly. Something the lump of a boy beside her stammered made her laugh. It rang like a bell. There was so much.. so much… LIFE in it. He wanted to bask in her glow. He wanted to take that small ray of sunshine and protect it.. keep that fire burning. And at that moment, he knew he had something to live for.This is a non canon rewrite from 4th year and after the war. Multiple POV.

He glanced around the Potions lab and his eyes caught on Granger. The interior was gloomy, as always. Dimly lit in a way that sometimes made it impossible to make out the words in their textbooks. The room severely lacked any charm, but did have this absurdly curved window that allowed some natural light to peek into the dungeon. It was that moment that she moved her body just so and the light from the window reflected off the myriad of ingredient bottles and onto her. Every freckle, every small insignificant detail of her face, was now lit with hundreds of refracted colors.
She comes in colors everywhere.
Draco quickly looked back at his work table, silently tapping the beat to the Rolling Stones cover he had discovered that summer.
He needed a way in with her. She was unfathomable to him at this point.
