Summary
“We didn’t kiss.”
Saying the words felt like a boulder had been lifted off his chest for a few blissful seconds before a whole mountain crashed down to take its place. What the fuck was he thinking? Saying something so pathetic, so needy, so utterly stupid over something so insignificant? Heat flooded his face, a different kind of shame, fresh and hot.
(or, I was mad that Shane never got any reassurance or apology for the Vegas humiliation ritual and "we didn't even kiss")

Summary
Shane's fingers hook lightly into the front of Ilya’s jacket again, tugging him even closer. “Next time,” Shane says, voice lower now, warmer, “maybe don’t apologize so fast.”
Ilya’s eyes darken slightly. “Crazy,” he murmurs.
Shane pauses to think. He probably doesn’t think for long enough, considering what he’s about to say. “Okay so, what if you were an intruder?”
Or- Ilya and Shane play a 'game' of chase.

Summary
"Ilya had loved him through his worst moments. Ilya had helped him find a therapist when he’d collapsed on the floor of their hotel bathroom after losing a particularly brutal game, scratching at his chest. Ilya had held him, even when Shane yelled at him because there was panic crawling under his skin and he felt as though it might claw its way out. Ilya had told him it was okay; that it didn’t make him a bad player to resent the spotlight sometimes, that it didn’t make him a bad teammate to hate the team when they were too loud and too drunk and too physical, that it didn’t make him a bad person to need space to breathe. Ilya saved him.
And look what you give him in return. You’re a shitty husband, Shane Hollander.
You don’t deserve his last name."

Summary
"Why are you not scared?"
"I am scared," Ilya admits. "I just am tired. Of hiding me. Of hiding you. Of hiding how much I love you. I want to go to the rink— how do you say it? Authenti."
"Authentically," Shane supplies, automatically.
"Yes. Authentically. I want to go to the rink authentically, as me," Ilya confirms.
Ilya looks at Shane, pauses until Shane meets his eyes. "I want to say: I, Ilya Rozanov love a man, and that man's name is Shane Hollander."
