Summary
“What did you mean, ‘we’re not friends anymore’?” Will demands.
“Oh god,” Mike says faintly, because he can’t think of a single other thing to say.
“It’s Will, actually,” Will says. “Or maybe you forgot that in the five years since you last bothered to speak to me before you sent me this.”
He unfolds his arms to brandish a crumpled envelope in Mike’s face, and he knows without even looking at his own handwriting on the front exactly what it is.
(or, the summer after all his friends graduate from college, mike writes will a letter to say goodbye. predictably, nothing about this goes as planned.)

Summary
Will’s face, barely visible in the dark of night— the theater had closed just a few minutes ago, removing the neon glare of the entrance signs and leaving only the parking lot lights to illuminate Will’s beauty. It was enough for Mike, however. Seeing just the slope of his nose and the curve of his lashes broke his heart into a million and one pieces, over and over again. As Will prepared to respond, Mike’s gaze flickered down to his pink, dampened lips, stained from the cherry Icee he'd had earlier. He was incomprehensibly, ineffably, beautiful.
Mike Wheeler wants to know why Holly's cute art teacher is acting so strange around him.
Will Byers is trying his hardest not to be a homewrecker. -

Summary
”Are you scared of me?” Mike frowns, Will’s shoulder tensing up under his grasp. He’s rubbing his thumb on it, a mirror of Will’s hands on Mike’s arm in the bathroom.
Scared isn’t the right word. Well, maybe it is. He’s scared of rejection. Scared of being laughed at. Scared of Mike not ever speaking to him again because of this dumb crush that won’t go away. “No,” He lies.
Mike sees right through it, his hand travelling gently from his shoulder to his warm neck, fingers tucked in between strands of hair and his thumb on Will’s soft cheekbone. “What is it that’s so scary, Will? Is it me? Is it — this?”
Or; Mike Wheeler and Will Byers work together at a fast food chain in Indiana. Mike just so happens to be a little dense. Will loves it.

Summary
“You okay?” Mike asks him.
Will turns to look at Mike. The light of the TV is projected on the side of his face, bathing his skin in greens and oranges. Sometimes Will feels like the secret to digging himself out of the wreckage of his childhood is hidden in Mike. There are days when the only thing that can dull the sharp pressure of grief in his ribs is Mike’s presence at his side; steady, thrumming. Will knows the day when he will have to detach himself is coming fast, but here in this basement, where nothing has changed in over a decade, time seems to have come to a screeching halt. It’s just the two of them, sat in the last place they were innocent together.
“Yeah,” Will whispers, “I’m okay.”
or; The Party's senior year of high school, in ebbs and flows.
