Ilya lies on the ground and looks up at the stars and waits to die.
The pavement is cold.
Ilya wonders if his mother was cold when she died. He thinks maybe not, since she didn’t die in a deserted alleyway in Vancouver. But she did die at home, and maybe that was even colder.In a world where the Cold War ended but the Iron Curtain never fell, Ilya Rozanov is the most promising figure skater in Russia. At only 19, he’s an easy candidate for gold at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, one of the only times Russia allows its citizens to leave the USSR.
And then one mistake means Russia will never let him come back. Hollander won’t stop trying to talk to him, but the last thing Ilya wants to do is talk to the man who ruined his life. He might be stuck in Canada, a refugee, for the rest of his life, but that doesn’t mean he has to talk to Hollander ever again.

Ilya stared at Shane in bemusement. “Sounds… complicated for just sex. What, you going to spank me, tie me down?”
Shane was silent at that. His eyes were steady on Ilya, his face determined.
Ilya’s heart thumped in his chest. “Are you?”
“I’m not going to hurt you,” Shane said. “I mean. I might bite and scratch at you a little, but no more than I normally do.”
That did not answer the tying down part of the question.
But if Shane wanted to try something new, Ilya could indulge him. This was Shane after all, Ilya’s sweet, desperate bottom. What harm could it do? It wasn’t like they didn’t both know how this would end, with Shane face down on the bed, begging for Ilya’s cock.

When Lindsay, the team operations manager, had pulled them into a meeting to discuss the rooming arrangements for the season, he’d been expecting Shane to get flustered, and turn bright red, and stammer out something like we wouldn’t want to make anyone on the team uncomfortable. Ilya, in fact, had just opened his mouth to say as much to her, but Shane beat him to the punch.
“If it can be arranged and doesn’t throw off anything, that’d be great,” Shane said.
Ilya gaped at him. “You want to room together?”
Shane just looked baffled. “What do you mean? We’re married. Of course we’re rooming together.”
