Summary
1920’s Prohibition AU. The reality of the American Dream is in truth a nightmare for impoverished fifteen-year-old immigrant Luz Noceda. Desperate to find better-paying work to support herself and her ailing mother, Luz disguises herself as a boy named Dante to peddle newspapers. Then one day, the world turns on its seam when Luz encounters notorious bootlegger and speakeasy proprietress, Edalyn Clawthorne, aka, the Owl Lady, on the run from the authorities. Eda invites Luz to her underground speakeasy called The Owl House, which functions as an illegal queer nightclub where anyone can belong. Upon convincing Eda to take Luz on as her apprentice, Luz is slowly beckoned into both the glittering prosperity and gristly reality of the Underground, where she’ll be forced to reconcile just how far she’s willing to go in the name of love, family, and belonging. Luz rubbed her eyes and yawned, fully rested after a luxurious four hours of sleep. "Morning, Kevin." She responded to the one way mic. Mami and Papi didn't raise her to be rude, after all."Morning Alex, Beth." She greeted the voices in her head.

[/Hungry./]This was how Luz Rucio Noceda, Host of the Grey Light Virus, had woken up every day for the past 16 years.
"Wonder what the good Doctor Kroning has in store for us today." She sighed, daring to hope that the next batch of tests weren't of the more... Invasive variety.
At least if she cooperated, she might even be able to see her Mami on the other side of her glass window. Or, if the doctor was feeling generous, in her room in a hazmat suit.She could have never expected where she'd be merely hours later- on the corpse of an ancient god, in the company of a magic criminal, with the singular gunshot that changed her life still ringing in her ears.

Nothing could really be better for 5 year old Luz other than her not being a witch.However, one fateful day within a facility new mexico, the world was set on a crash course with the destruction of everything Luz ever knew. She never wanted this change, but it seemed change would always be wherever she went, especially within the Boiling Isle in which she finds on accident when hiding from dangerous creatures. Was this journey she finds herself on planned? Or fully a coincidence. Whatever the case, one fact remains... The right Witch in the wrong place can make all the difference in the world. So wake up Luz Noceda, wake up from the ashes...

Summary
Months have passed since the Highbreed Invasion, an attempt by a dying race to make sure that when they die they won't be going to the afterlife alone. Luz Noceda, Wielder of the Omnitrix, saved the entire galaxy from their wrath but now has to deal with the repercussions of his identity getting exposed when she fought against the Invasion with her friends and allies.
Months have passed where she had to deal with rabid fans and reporters, cries of help from planets lightyears away, enemies now knowing where she and her family lives. The stress of being a galactic hero and celebrity wears down on a person's spirit eventually, no matter how optimistic they were at the start.
With luck, this Summer vacation will just be the first relaxing (relatively) vacation she's had since five years ago when she found her Omnitrix. But she knows deep down that fate wasn't that kind.

You ever find out something about your parents and then all the weird stuff you've been going through makes a lot more sense? Luz Noceda doesn't know it yet, but she's about to go through some changes related to an experience that her parents had back in the 1990s, before she was born and well before the Noceda's moved from Upstate New York to Gravesfield Connecticut.
Still, she's got an awesome mentor to help her figure it out and a chance to live out her fantasy of being a real witch on top of that.
