Xie Lian slowly poked his small ferret head out of the leaf pile.
“Why are you giving me free eggs?” he asked suspiciously, one of the leaves now balanced on his head like a bamboo hat.
It is forbidden to ask what a person turns into at night.
By day, they remain human. When the sun sets: an animal form, unique to each person. Day and night are separate worlds and separate lives. It is the greatest, most unbreakable taboo to know a person’s nightform. And even more dangerous for Xie Lian, as he is cursed.
But one night in the forest, he meets a fox. A very powerful fox, who seems hell bent on protecting him at all costs. And the very next day, he meets a man calling himself San Lang.
