Summary
Deciding he has nothing left to lose, worn-out New York attorney Castiel Novak takes his dying father’s 1971 Dodge Challenger for a joyride only to end up wrapped around a tree with a severe concussion and memory loss, saved by an unknown hero on a dark road.
With the help of his colleague and friend, Sam Winchester, Castiel restores his father’s car to like-new. And now, with the help of Sam’s brother, Dean, an EMT who plays mechanic as a hobby, Castiel tries to overcome his newfound anxiety about driving through drag racing with Dean and his friends.
But Castiel finds himself irresistibly drawn to Dean, who offers himself as a distraction from Castiel’s problems and reveals to Castiel that the Winchesters have a dark past that Sam has never spoken about.
And, just like they drive, Castiel and Dean are fast and reckless, using each other to run from their own lives, which are connected more than Castiel realizes.

“So where are we going?”
Dean’s heart nearly stops as he slams Baby’s brakes, grateful there's no one else behind them on the road.
He whips around in his seat, only to come face-to-face with a kid who is decidedly not Sammy. His messy blonde hair is cut above his ears (something he can only dream of Sam doing)and he’s quite a few years younger than Dean's brother, feet dangling off the edge of the seat and not really touching the floor.
“You’re not Sammy…” He tries to not break into hysterics. Sammy doesn't have a black backpack decorated with little embroidered honeybees, he doesn't wear Velcro shoes, and he certainly doesn't squint his wide blue eyes and cock his head to the side when confused.
“No,” The little boy answers carefully, “I’m Jack.”

Summary
Dean has burned Cas' body and that makes his death definite. The only thing left for him to do is to drown himself in alcohol and hunting, a pale echo of his father. So when Sam finds the strange case of a town that no one seems to be able to get out of, Dean goes with him to investigate with only white noise in his head.
But something strange happens when Dean crosses the town's municipal boundary without realizing it. He suddenly finds himself living a life that isn't technically his own but feels like it's his: he's survived the Hunt, has a house, a white picket fence, and an happy apple pie on the windowsill.
And most importantly.
Cas is alive.
