A wizard walks into a waypoint. This is not the beginning of a joke, though Gale Dekarios would be the first to admit it has all the hallmarks of one.
He had a plan. The plan involved a remote location, a dignified end, and perhaps a final vintage of wine before the literal bomb in his chest takes him to the Fugue Plane. It did not involve a nautiloid, a parasite, a hostile cleric, and a woman who collects bent spoons and communicates primarily in a low, vibrating D-flat.
