"There was no way Dick was going to convince Jason he was wrong. And frankly, pissed as he was at Jason for this entire charade, at the end of the day, Dick didn't want to be right. He didn't want to be his brother's enemy. He didn't want to one day have to cart his brother to Blackgate for going too far.
Dick just wanted his brother to come home.
He let go of Jason. Let his hands fall to his sides.
"Fine," Dick finally said. "You wanna kill Joker. Go ahead. Kill him."
A father and son went to Ethiopia.
The father didn't come back.

This must've been the first dream about that night in many years. The first night terror in a month or two, actually. Percy was twenty-one now, years after the end of both wars and over a decade after that wretched night. However, he knew the ending scenes of his dream were far from what really happened. While he would have liked to introduce Gabe to the wrath of Medusa earlier, that only happened after his first quest. At ten years old after his mother's death, Percy did not stand up at fight. He ran. He ran and ran and ran until he collapsed in an alleyway, near ready to follow his mother's descent. He may have been successful, if he hadn't met Gotham's Dark Knight. Percy sat up in his bed, his memories effectively pushing the sleep from his system. Batman had scooped him up and whispered promises of a better life, one with his friend Bruce Wayne. Percy could never recollect how he ended up in a plush bed inside Wayne Manor that same night, or how he ended up joining the coveted Wayne family. All he knew of was the gentle hands of their butler tending to his wounds and the warm smiles of Bruce Wayne and his other ward: Dick Grayson.

Summary
Post-war wizarding Britain looks as if it has returned to normal, but that couldn't be any less true for Hermione Granger. She busies herself caring for those still impacted by the horrors of wartime, all the while ignoring the scars she still carries or the danger she's in. When duty calls her to Malfoy manor she is forced to reconcile the woman she is now against the girl she was all those years ago. And what of the woman she may yet become?
The Rooms We Never Left is a story of new versus old. Late versus early. Of acting on the seen versus acting on faith. It is a story of healing, loving, holding on and letting go. It is a story about the pieces of ourselves we carry from the "before", some by choice, some by obligation, and others against our will.
