Summary
Ilya seems to have everything now. A husband who loves him loudly, proudly, and in the sunshine, a team that is supportive of him and the love of his life, and it's been years since he's had to be in regular therapy. But then he sees his mom in a woman kissing her son's blonde curls after scolding him, and suddenly he's seeing his mom everywhere, and in everything. Grief is finding his cracks again, and he doesn't quite know what to do.

Once he talks himself into checking on Ilya at his Boston apartment (despite a glaring lack of booty-call texts) he in short order:
(1) finds Ilya with a fever,
(2) stumbles straight into Ilya's childhood trauma,
(3) meets Svetlana, and
(4) gets acquainted with old Russian cold remedies.--

Prince Ilya Rozanov of the Vampiric Dominion and Shane Hollander, son of the First Minister of the Council of Vampire Hunters, have been playing a dangerous game ever since stumbling upon each other at an abandoned citadel bordering their lands several years ago.
And maybe while the first few attempts to kill each other, as expected by their respective nations, were real, now . . . it looks less like attempts on each other's lives and a lot more like foreplay to earn Shane's submission.
