It happens fast, but not so fast that Will misses the elbow that struck Mack’s nose. Not so rapid that he doesn’t see how Mack would have fallen if he didn’t have the boards to support himself. Not so quick that Will doesn’t see the intent behind the strike.

Summary
Behind every strong man is a stronger wife, Toff once told him and while he doesn’t think of Will as his wife, obviously, they are married in every sense but legally. They share a house, a bed, lazy mornings and late nights. Will drives him to the rink everyday. They celebrate their wins together and lick their wounds after a loss together.
Marriage is something grounding, something adult. The very kind of thing a captain needs. And a captain like Mack needs Will Smith.
