She braced herself for refusal, for mockery, for another sharp-edged joke meant to keep distance intact. Instead, Cherri looked down at the ruined hem, jaw tightening.
“If you’re going to stare,” she said after a moment, voice carefully casual, “then you might as well help I suppose.”
