"Do you?" I demand, sharp like one of Ghost's knives. "I don't think you have even the most basic idea of what I'm going through, Kate!"
Why am I yelling at her? Out of everyone, she would be the most likely to understand. Maybe not all of it, but enough.
My friend's eyes narrow slightly, and I clamp my mouth shut so quickly my teeth audibly clack together. Kate takes a step towards me, and I take an instinctive step away.
"If you think for one second that I’m any less fucked up about what happened than you are, then you don’t know me at all, John. They were my boys, too. I’m just as torn up and angry as you are," Kate snarls, jabbing a finger into my chest with enough force to knock me back a step.
"I know," I soothe, holding my hands up placatingly. Kate is furious, chest heaving and nostrils flared.
Out of the two of us, she’s closer to exploding than I am.
Never thought there would come a day when Kate Laswell would lose her shite. Especially not at me, of all people.

For some reason, my brain supplies a different voice saying those same words. A voice I haven’t even thought about in a year. A voice I don’t even want to remember. Summary
When the 141 go on a mission to retrieve (destroy if necessary) secret weapons in a laboratory known for genetic testing and experiments that could have devastating outcomes, they find a female prisoner. Taking her with them might not have the consequences they imagined as they help her try to integrate back into civilian life with the help of Konig through alternative/unconventional therapy. But when she shows signs of genetic alteration, Shepard decides that she's better off used as a tool of war instead. Will the men allow this once they claim responsibility for her?

Summary
Metropolis was a city of sun. The glass and metal buildings started to shine as the sun rose. It made the image of the city feel hazy and light, like a mirage you’re trying desperately to believe in.
Gotham was a city of night. The smoke and stone choked the light out of its streets, catching its citizens in its catacombs. The sun couldn’t touch it as it stuttered along. It looked even more like a shadow of the city that should be there as the sun rose.
The two cities were superimposed onto each other, the light of the sun just touching the horizon breaking the barriers that would be there for the majority of the day. But for a dozen or so minutes each morning, they existed simultaneously. The dark of Gotham tried to smother the shine of Metropolis as the twinkling skyscrapers tried to do the same to the rundown warehouses of the other.
And as they appeared next to, on top of, and within each other, so did Tim and Kon.
