Summary
The woman slowly opened her eyes. They were piercing, and currently burning of exhaustion, pain, and profound irritation. And wow–they’re green. Victoria feels lightheaded now. She's really pretty, actually.
"If you try to slap a C-collar on a bruised tibia," the woman huffed, "I’ll go back to my car and hit you myself.”
Or: It's the first day of Victoria's shift. She hits someone with her car.

Summary
Victoria Javadi might not be the last person Cassie expects to find at her door, but her clutching a duffel bag and looking immeasurably tired is one of the last sights she thought she’d see. It’s nothing to let her in and maybe it’s easier than it should be to offer her a place to stay.
It will probably be one night, Cassie figures, one night before she reconciles enough with her parents or finds a friend who has an actual bed to offer. And it’s not worth examining anything else she might be feeling.
