Yellowfang met them at the enterance, a restless expression carved into her face. “Good. You’re back,” her sharp gaze travelled over the two cats and into the forest behind them, “Fireheart isn’t with you?”
“He isn’t back already?” The journey to the Thunderpath is less than half the journey they took to the Twolegplace, especially for a younger cat like Fireheart. Cinderpaw felt her chest tighten slightly, “Do you think he’s alright?”
“I watched Fireheart fight Brokenstar one-on-one as a ‘paw. He knows how to handle himself.”
Despite the medicine cat’s confident words, Cinderpaw felt that the reassurance was more for Yellowfang herself than anyone else. There was a sinking feeling in her stomach that her mentor was in trouble.
OR: Fireheart gets hit by the car instead of Cinderpaw.

“I'm—” the mer sputtered, indignant anger coloring splotchy red up along his neck and cheeks, his finned ears fluttering in rage. “I'm a fucking Adult, you smug piece of shit!”
John felt him struggle a bit more in his arms, something he should most certainly not be able to do so soon, and so he tightened his limbs around him. They were too out in the open here, it gave too much opportunity for his prey to get away or maneuver around on him for another attack. Then something else could also come along and snatch him away from John. That just wouldn't do.

Summary
Before he was Nightwing, he was Robin, and before Robin he was the youngest member of the Flying Graysons. All his life Dick spent in the spotlight one way or another. All his life his body was his most special weapon and now it all came to ruin. His parents were dead, Robin was someone else, and Nightwing was buried a week ago. He didn’t even feel like Dick Grayson anymore. He was just a ghost. A living ghost that haunted the halls of the manor and those that tried to be in his presence.
Nightwing was dead and gone, while Dick Grayson remained alive. It didn't feel right.

After Joker's attack leaves Dick as an amputee, he struggles to accept the loss of both his leg and his vigilante identity.
