Shane scrunched up his face. "No, we're in Regina. At the World Junior Championships. Are you messing with me, Rozanov? That's not very nice of you. I'm the one in the hospital. And I assume it's because of you."
"Holy shit," Ilya said under his breath as it finally hit him. Shane didn't remember. Any of it. He didn't remember any words they had ever said to one another. He didn't remember anything they had ever done together. He didn't even remember that first chance encounter outside the rink in Regina. Holy fucking shit. Nine years of Shane's memories were gone. The nine years that they'd been dancing around each other, spinning in each other's orbits without ever truly colliding. Shane didn't remember a single moment that they'd shared.---
When Shane gets hit in their match in April 2017, he loses all his memories of Ilya, last remembering his drive to the rink in Regina in December 2008.
