(this is an AU of a dream I had one night of an alternate version of the red death aftermath, but Valka stayed in Berk Hiccup's whole life, and it focuses on Hiccup's recovery after being injured!)
When Hiccup is gravely injured saving Berk from the Red Death, his survival hangs by a thread and he has to lose his lower left leg. With Valka at his side, Stoick and the village are forced to reckon with what they nearly lost. As Toothless refuses to leave his rider's side, and Gobber begins crafting a new future for him, the story follows the painful, intimate moments of waiting, grief, hope and the sacrifice Hiccup made for peace between dragons and Vikings.

The people of Berk stayed on the new island, and a new generation of Vikings is already growing up there. Life goes on as usual, but somewhere across the sea, beyond the Northern Archipelago, a new evil is growing and the old one is reviving. In order to fight it, two leaders of two tribes, one human and one dragon, will be forced to unite again. What changes will they have to go through and how will it change them?
