When Chicago is under attack by a serial bomber that's dredging up all sorts of bad memories, Detective Jay Halstead calls an old army buddy in to help out on the case when his partner gets trapped in a room that's rigged to explode.
He and MacGyver haven't spoken in years but a lot has changed, and a lot has gone wrong. Both men are struggling over their guilt and self-loathing after having gone through their own traumas apart. They both have a whole host of new issues and secrets that have yet to be spoken of, but through working on this case that seems more and more personal as they go on. Maybe they can renew their long lost friendship.
This story focuses on the rebuilding of their friendship and dealing with the traumas they faced together and apart in the Army, as well as the things they've experienced in their crime fighting professions and back home.

His mum told him to stop thinking about himself like that, even though it was excruciatingly difficult. Even harder when he can barely control his thoughts— and his arm apparently, which he didn't realize was still grasping his almost full glass as he slid off of the bar stool. The glass came with his hand spilling the abundance of liquid on the Operation guy’s lap.
Oh no.
He looks up apprehensively to find the look of pure rage on the guy’s face. This dude has had at least three drinks and had something way stronger than his. Fitz knows all too well what an angry drunk looks like, and this definitely hits the mark.
This was a big mistake.

Fitz takes a deep breath scrunching his eyes shut. He fumbles with pulling his jacket, ripping it from his shoulders and shivering as the cold air hits his sweat-soaked dress shirt. Only then do they see the dark splotch of blood covering the side of his shirt."Whoa whoa whoa, is that blood?"
Daisy whips her head around, hoping Mack's not talking about who she thinks he is.

Summary
Jake used to think Spider, Na’vi at heart, was just as strong and resilient as his children. Always rising up from a scratch, smiling and cracking jokes to make people smile with him. He always put his friends first, bringing random gifts around and offering a hand whenever something had to be done.
Spider was a good kid, a tough kid. But oh boy did Jake fail him. Kiri would ask for help where Spider didn’t. Lo’ak would shed quiet tears when Spider shrugged his pain off. Tuk would rely on him when Spider actually had no one to rely on at the same age. Jake confused resilience with deep-rotted hyper-independence for the longest time.
When Spider falls into a panic attack, whispering heart-wrenching pleas and confusing him for someone else - someone that had hurt him - Jake then realises just how far Spider has changed from the boy he once knew. How could he have been so blind?
OR
Spider is losing all hope, the Sully's grieves and Jake realises they have more wounds to patch then they thought.
