When Miles found out about what happened to Phoenix, he knew he needed to do something. With dead ends on getting his disbarment overturned, his next logical choice was giving him money to help tide him over. When that leads to similar results he debates what to do. Their next encounter results in their relationship forever changing. But given everything, Miles will gladly accept becoming Phoenix's sugar daddy if it means he can help him. No matter his own personal feelings.
