For once, everything seemed almost normal. It had been a simple dinner, and the High King had been charming the whole evening, eliciting Arwen’s laugh and their father’s smile. Even Elladan had been less tense, and Elrohir smiled to himself as his brother was still being teased by Arwen behind him.
Obviously, something was still missing, but tonight the heavy mantle of grief seemed lighter, and it was with light steps and a light heart that Elrohir entered the main room.
