The aftermath of a near-disaster is a mixture of things. Joy for life and grief for death. Loud admiration of the masses and a quiet exhaustion of the heroes.
Countless wounds, both those visible and those inflicted on the mind alone.
Amidst it all there’s Lumine, the saviour of Fontaine and Childe, an unsung champion barely coming out of this whole ordeal alive. First, he’s stuck to the hospital bed, hardly able to move, then in the cage of his mind, wondering if the fight with the Narwhal was worth it, if he truly did anything he could and if so... how could he still end up losing? But the man is not left to wrestle with these thoughts alone for long.
Someone visits him. A girl he longed to see. And that visit starts his road to recovery.
One midnight rendezvous at a time.

“—okay, fine, Childe.” Lumine lets out an exasperated sigh, massaging her temples when her index fingers. “I’ll be straight with you: you’re the type to somehow stupidly ignore the elevator and use the stairs and trip down it in the process. And then you fucking die.”
Childe gapes in exaggeration. “Wow, girlie, didn’t know you could predict my future. Read me like a book, won’t you? I’ll totally ignore the elevator and tumble down the stairs. You know what? In fact, let me do that right now. Seems exhilarating and better than being stuck in bed 24/7.”
Tsaritsa's 11th Mafia Harbinger, Childe, hates being stuck in a hospital with nowhere to go and nothing to do. But, hey, at least there's a really, really cute doctor with the fiercest of eyes and sharpest of retorts who he wouldn't mind staying a couple of weeks longer for.
(And, gods above, the way she absolutely FLOORS him in their sparring matches is so fucking hot. It might be the hottest thing anyone's ever done for him, actually.)

"I need your help."
Lumine arched a brow at that, clearly caught off guard by his request before she lowered her brows into a confused frown.
“What help would a Harbinger like you possibly need from me out of all people?" Lumine finally asked, the spark of curiosity that momentarily flickered in her eyes not going unnoticed by the Harbinger whose smile merely sharpened.
“All I need is three days.”
Lumine’s eyes sparked in confusion as she tipped her head aside, brows pinching together in confusion as her golden eyes flashed in mild curiosity.
“Three days?”
Childe then leaned forward in his seat to bring their faces closer as if he was telling her a secret, blue orbs shining with a gleam Lumine knew meant no good and when she saw the Harbinger’s lips curl upwards into a foxy smile, she felt her stomach sink.
“For three days, I need you to pretend to be my girlfriend.”
