"Come here," the man broke the silence and spread his arms. The boy almost without hesitating nestled his head against his chest. The white-haired man embraced him gently, but gradually his embrace was getting tighter, stronger, warmer, "I'm never going to leave you," he declared. He whispered these words in Giorno's ear, and then he started stroking his head and his back.
"Never, never, never," he repeated softly, "as long as you let me, you'll never be alone." It was a promise... It made the boy's tears slowly fade away. It made him feel warm instead of cold, and that he was finally safe, even if the rain pounded furiously against the windows, even if the lightning bolt brightened the room every now and then and the thunders were deafening.
His heart found peace in the man's arms. Maybe Giorno still didn't fully understand this. But now he felt so much better.
