Ciri is backed into a corner, her face pale and frightened even as her body remains in a fighting stance as she’s been trained to do. Cornering her there is Jaskier, dagger in his hand and muscles tensed to attack.
Geralt is across the yard in a moment, grabbing Jaskier and hauling him away from Ciri, jumping back when Jaskier turns on him, stabbing upwards with his dagger.
“Jaskier!” Geralt says, ducking another swing. “What the fuck are you doing?!”
(A doppler infiltrates Kaer Morhen, and Geralt has A Very Bad Day).

“I’m not planning on leaving you,” Geralt says on their fourth evening. The witcher doesn’t look up from the bestiary he’s been scrawling corrections in, a pastime of his that Jaskier knows drives other people crazy when they get their books back.
Jaskier blinks at him in surprise.
“Since when was that in question?” He asks, slightly alarmed at the idea of it.
Geralt makes a noise of frustration.
“It wasn’t,” he says, his face creased in the way it always is when he has things he wants to say but doesn’t know how to. He sits back and gestures at Jaskier with a vague hand gesture. “You’re just…clingy. Like you’re afraid I’m going to try and leave you.”
(Drawn by a competition but afraid of a dark figure from his past, Jaskier manages to convince Geralt to attend with him) (Now if the witcher would just stop asking why)

Summary
Supper secured and stuffed away in his trousers, he looks up to find the silver-haired stranger in the corner, the one person who hadn’t heckled him. The man is objectively gorgeous, with fascinating hair and a body that makes Jaskier’s mouth water a little.
Oh yes, he decides quickly, he will be climbing this stranger like a tree.
He’s a little wrong-footed when he works out that the stranger is a witcher with big scary swords Jaskier’s heard horror stories about, but after a quick moment of thought, he also thinks about how very many things the fae elders have been wrong about all his life and decides to ignore them once again. The witcher–Geralt of supposedly Rivia, even though Jaskier can tell from his accent that that’s a lie–tries to get rid of him, but Jaskier is nothing if he’s not determined, and he’s simply too damn interested to get scared off easily.
The witcher has clearly not realized that Jaskier is something to be hunted, and Jaskier, well, he’s never excelled at silly things like self-preservation.

Summary
A broken window on the far side of the room allowed some light in—just enough for Megumi to see the rows of rusted cages lining the back wall of the room. Frowning, Megumi took a closer look, his eyes widening at the sight of bones littering the cages. They were clearly animal, most of the bones no bigger than Megumi's hand. In a few of them, Megumi spotted tags with faded writing.
"I guess that answers the question of what this place was used for," Gojo said, startling Megumi. Despite how eerily quiet the place was, Gojo seemed to move around it like a ghost, his footsteps completely silent. "I thought I told you to stay glued to my hip."
That's right, Megumi remembered why he left Gojo's side in the first place.
"I heard a dog."

Gojo drags Megumi along on one of his missions, thinking it'll be a good learning experience. Things, however, go sideways when something other than a curse poses a threat.

That’s what he had in mind, apparently. Becoming their legal guardian, paying their bills and stuff, training Megumi Fushiguro as a trump card and that’s it. Nothing more, nothing less. Not a parent, just a guardian in paper and a teacher.
Well, something must’ve gone very wrong because right now, Gojo “I’m not really adopting them” Satoru is carrying a very sleepy 6 years old Megumi Fushiguro in his arms. The kid’s sleeping with his arms around Gojo’s neck, Gojo is questioning life while walking in the street and people around them are trying not to make it obvious that they’re staring at the two because well, that’s a 6’3 tall white haired and blue eyed high schooler carrying a small child with no expression on his face.

Summary
Hitting the button, Gojo brought the phone to his ear as his mind ran through a million different scenarios. Was Megumi lying broken and bleeding on the street after having been run over by a car as he attempted to walk home by himself? Or perhaps a cursed spirit sensed the kid's cursed energy and attacked him. Gojo had only recently begun training Megumi to use ten shadows and summon shikigami; training which was nowhere near ready for the kid to defend himself against any threats.
Bracing for the worst, Gojo wasn't prepared for the first sound he heard to be that of a strange man talking.

Without warning, whatever was outside hit the door without enough force to make it rattle. Megumi flinched back, his eyes widening as another strike came, followed by a third. It continued the same way the knocking had, never changing pace. All the while, Megumi could feel the unfamiliar cursed energy seeping through the cracks. Megumi really hoped it was Gojo playing some cruel prank.
As suddenly as it had started, the knocking stopped. Megumi held his breath as he listened carefully. He nearly jumped out of his skin when the phone in the kitchen suddenly rang. Hurrying over, Megumi grabbed a nearby stool and used it to reach the phone hanging on the wall. He never took his eyes off the door as he answered.
"Hello?"

The first thing Fushiguro Toji does upon his re-entrance into the world of the living is find the nearest convenience store.
Eventually, he walks out of the store to sit on the curb, the quiet jingle tune of the door sensor ringing in his ears. He sits there for a moment, oddly numb as a cold air sweeps through the dim street. He takes a moment to blankly lift the hem of his shirt and feels nothing when he looks down to find the twisted, raised skin of his stomach, swirling on the side of his abdomen where a crater should’ve been. He raises a hand to his temple, a headache blinding but still unable to mask the death dream of a Megumi all grown up.
Not a Zen’in, huh?
“Huh. That shitty punk really killed me.”
The observation hits nothing but the cold air of the night and his own ears. He lets himself go still for a moment before chugging the rest of his third can of Asahi.
OR: Toji finds himself risen from the dead twice over.

Tim slowly stiffened as he came back into himself. He was curled up in Jasons lap, with his head shoved under the older mans’ chin and his face buried in his neck. His hands were gripping the back of Jasons’ jacket like he belonged there and there were half dried tears all over the both of them. Jason had his arm wrapped around him and his other hand was running though his hair. Casually, he pressed a kiss onto the top of Tims’ hair, still speaking softly throughout it all.
---Nobody ever deals well with loneliness, but certain people are probably worse at it and certain people probably deal with it more often. Tim is of course both of these people.
