Summary

And yes, Jean is familiar with loss, the sometimes celebration of it, the otherwise engulfing grief of it. But this: Jeremy sitting in a heap on his living room floor, Jabberwocky Moreau cuddled into his lap, tail lazily wagging? This is something he’s tired of losing, the microdose of his absence—the threat of it being whole if he keeps this up.
He waits for the “I can’t,” braces for it like it’ll land a physical blow. But it comes quietly, softly in the way Jeremy’s knuckles stop behind Jab’s ear; the sudden halt that hits right before the prolonged absence.

“First they constantly put me next to you in the car. Then they ask if I want help learning how to make your favorite food. Then they practically put your chair on top of mine. It’s bad enough they put our tent so far away from theirs in case we want to ‘enjoy ourselves.’” Noct air quotes, accusations flowing out of him like a broken dam.
“What? What are you talking abo–”
“And then today! Astrals damn me today, you with your guns. I almost died just watching you.” Noctis cuts him off, whirling on him with all the force of a man trained to take down daemons, but Prompto is clearly closer than he thought, and his eyes go wide, indigo in the evening light.

“Oh, Deku,” he says his name like he’s in on something Izuku should already know, fake empathy. “Don’t you know already?” Katsuki questions, not looking for an answer as his free hand rises, and Izuku gulps his answer down as that hand grasps at his jaw, pulling with the intention to bruise. As Katsuki’s voice brushes right against his lips, like a sampling of what he’s always wanted, a taste meant to trap an addict.
“Everything in here is meant for me.”

In which Jayce and Viktor are both set up on blind dates unknowingly with each other.

“Your feelings?” Viktor cuts him off as he steps closer, nudging Jayce’s foot with his cane, similar to the way it bumps up against him in the lab. To the choreography of their studies, the dance of their work bringing them to this.
“It must be obvious by now.” Jayce warms, softening at the way Viktor blinks up at him. Like he’s a spectacle, the greatest thing ever discovered.
“Ehh,” Viktor smiles, really smiles, and it takes all of Jayce not to kiss him right then and there. To swipe his tongue against those sharp canines, to feel if they sting from a bite. “I wasn’t sure if it was just childish wonder for our work, or if it was… something more.”
“Definitely something more,” Jayce laughs. “A lot more, Viktor. I don’t think I can survive you calling my crush childish wonder.”

Suguru dead-eyes him across the table.
“Please listen to me, man.” Satoru says.
“No.” Suguru responds in that long suffering way that means he’s going to listen to Satoru but he’s gonna be pissy about it first. “It’s, fucking, 7AM.” Suguru adds. Suguru is not a morning person. It’s why Satoru went and bought the fancy coffee Suguru likes and breakfast sandwiches and red bean buns. He had to go to the bakery across town to get those.
“It’s so important.” Satoru tells him.
“Your opening gambit at 7-fucking-AM was ‘say I’ve gotten into anal play lately, why do I leak cum before I cum?’” Suguru says with a glare.
“Yeah.” Satoru says.
Suguru glares even harder.
“Well, you could answer me at least.” Satoru huffs, crossing his arms over his chest.
“I hope you fall off a bridge and die.” Suguru tells him, but he’s unwrapping a breakfast sandwich and pulling the lid off one of the cups of coffee, so.
“I hope you do too.” Satoru says amicably, taking a seat. He pushes some napkins toward Suguru and switches out the breakfast sandwich. Suguru likes the ones with avocado better. “So why do I?”
