And there’s something in there that Buck latches onto, and it wasn’t even Bobby bluntly saying that Buck was his kid.

Naturally. As might be expected. Needless to say. Obviously. Buck hadn’t expected himself to latch onto those two words, but maybe it was because Bobby had said them. And Buck hates that he doesn’t know what to do with those words, mouth opening and closing a few times before he decides that he needs more time to just think. Think of what to say and how to say it. “Of course?” Is what he ends up saying, and Bobby looks confused for a moment, trying to understand why out of anything that he had said, that was what the younger man seemed to have grasped. But then that confusion is gone just as quick as it had appeared, instead it’s replaced with a sad understanding.

Summary
Buck and Tommy haven’t even been together for two months when Buck starts thinking about ending things. He hates himself for it, a little. He can’t put his finger on why the thought crosses his mind as he lays with his head on Tommy’s lap while they watch a documentary about a Napali mountaineer’s quest to summit the 14 peaks. It might have something to do with the put upon sigh Tommy had let out before agreeing to watch it with him. Or perhaps it was the fact that his fingers didn’t end up carding through Buck’s hair until he asked him to do it.
Buck knows that he could talk to someone about it. He has plenty of people who would be willing to listen but each time he goes to say something he remembers how proud they were of him when they found out about Tommy. They’re happy for him and already have so many other things to be upset about. He’s made them worry about him too many times already; it’s better if they think he’s finally okay.

Chimney sighed again, and there was a rustle through the phone like he was running a hand down his face.
“Fine. You might have a point."
OR
Apology fic where Chimney actually has to apologize for his actions! This takes place right after season 5 episode 5 when Buck tries to transfer firehouses. Chimney punched him before taking off, Maddie is gone, and things at the firehouse are weird. Of course Buck takes it personally and blames himself. Canonically, Chimney got away with apologizing offscreen. I think he deserves to be chewed out a bit. The first chapter is Hen reacting to Buck trying to transfer and calling Chimney. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to write other perspectives and slowly have the whole firefam call to yell at him - or just make chapter 2 be his actual apology to Buck. Buck deserves an apology and we deserve to hear it!

Buck doesn't do therapy in person. Buck doesn't talk about his 1.0 days. Buck doesn't talk about his past sex addiction. What happened was consensual, and his fault, and the team clearly agreed, because they had joked about it. It's fine. It doesn't bother him anymore.
The Los Angeles courts don't quite agree. When probationary firefighter Victor Santana of Station 153 presses charges against Dr. Wells, the team come to realize just how deeply she hurt Buck - and how much Buck hasn't been dealing with it.

Eddie’s expression turns serious “You don’t have to do anything, Buck,” he says firmly almost , his protective “You don’t have to forgive them, or even let them back into your life if you don’t want to. This isn’t about them—it’s about what you need.”

When the day started, Kelly didn't put much thought into it. It was just a normal shift, a normal day, until he noticed an unfamiliar Floater walk out of the Firehouse. His mind freezes on the man. A topical Floater doesn't look like that. Look at those arms. Eddie Diaz was enthralled with the new relationship with Miss Ana Flores and wanted to introduce her to his chosen family. He was a little apprehensive even after this long because she never got why he considered them his family, and she had no desire to meet Buck. Anytime he brought up Buck in a conversation, she pursed her lips and changed the subject. She even did it when Christopher went on about the adventure he had with Buck on their days off and Christopher glared at her, stomping off. Eddie knew that despite the talk Buck and Chris had, his son still had obvious reservations about this relationship. He hoped to smooth things over if he could get Buck to agree to dinner, which was difficult because he always said he was busy. (How he was, Eddie didn't know because he was either with his niece or with Chris. Somehow he was never around when Ana was).
