“Your skin… i-it’s too hot!” His skin, sheening with sweat, almost felt like he had stepped out of a giant brazier. “Do you feel like you have a fever? Why isn’t Ruth treating you for this?!“
“He's tried. This isn’t something Ruth can fix.” He murmurs, eyes fluttering closed as Maximilian combs back his sweat slicked hair with her hand. Riftan groans as Maximilian continues to fret over him. “I am in pain."

Summary
The fondness in his tone makes Ezreal blush, but he steps over and lowers himself beside the assassin, letting his legs dangle off the edge of the platform. For a while it's quiet, the sound of tree branches creaking and rustling leaves creates a gentle, relaxing ambiance, and paired with the nice breeze, it leaves them both calm as it carries the sweet scent of summer past their noses.
Once, during their first meeting in the forests of Ionia, Kayn held a blade to Ezreal's throat and threatened to end his life, but thanks to Ezreal's quick wit and silver tongue, Kayn wound up as the explorer's guide around some local ruins; an arrangement that would be reoccurring. After several return visits, Ezreal has become a welcome visitor in the village of assassins as Kayn's personal guest, and now there's something that Kayn wants more than anything — to hear Ezreal call him Shieda.
