“You can’t fight me!” Tim said before he could stop himself. Actually, this wasn’t a bad idea. Call it cowardly, but it was better than maybe dying, no matter how Hood treated kids in his territory.
"Oh, yeah? Why not, Replacement? Aren’t you meant to be a target?” Hood just shoved his forearm against him harder.
Tim wheezed, but he managed to talk. This was it. This had better work. “I’m on my period!"
Tim has quickly realized that this fight is not going in his favor. Luckily, he has one more trick up his sleeve.

Victorian No capes:
A small part of his mind threw up its hands in exasperation. It was Jason's lab in Jason’s house, and if Jason wanted to run an experiment on the effects of deadly nightshade on the appearance of a loaf of bread, in his own lab, then that was his right. It wasn’t his fault that a tiny, starving omega pup had snuck into his house and eaten his experiment.
The much larger part of his brain was screeching that he needed to find the charcoal now or the pup was going to die on his laboratory floor.

A young omega pup breaks into a Jason's lab and accidentally eats an experiment on how poison affects the appearance of food. Jason has to save the pup whether the pup wants his help or not.

“Would you like a hug?” Tim asked again, heat crawling from his cheeks all the way to the tips of his ears the longer Hood silently stared at him, a wall of unreadable stone.
It finally occurred to him exactly what he had asked and to whom he had asked it. His entire face felt molten as the mortification kicked in, leaving him unable to do anything but stare back.
Then, Tim saw it. A small movement, hardly more than a spasm. Hood’s hand holding the gun faltered while the other twitched forward, towards Tim. Granted, he was hissing out a string of curses that would have made Alfred sad all the while. But still. Tim knew how to read between the lines.
Tim also knew how to take advantage of opportunities presented to him on silver platters.

Summary
Damien vows is to find his own way and scrape and claw his way into a good position by his father's side.
He has not been offered any protection by anyone of high ranking or even his father so it is clear that he must earn his place on his own.
He scrapes and moves trying to adjust to the strange rules outside the league until one day everything changes and he is once again offered the privilege of protection, like he once had in the league.
Drake saves his life when they are out in civilian clothes and tries to protect him even when he is injured.
Damian does not understand how he came to earn this honor but he will not waste this chance.
Finally something makes sense.
He will swear loyalty and flourish as is expected of him in return for such protection.
AKA Damian is severely confused by the ways of his father and his family, Tim saves Damien from getting shot and Damian swears loyalty to him.
The entire bat family including Tim is very confused on what the heck just happened!?
