It doesn't need him to acknowledge it; under other circumstances, he might anyway. He doesn't.
It would be—difficult, right now. Difficult, as sharply focused as he feels, as tautly strung. His jaw is tight; he has no more attention to hand to apply to relaxing it than he had to respond to the ship. His own breath is loud in his ears—though perhaps that's attributable to the way his head and throat are enclosed by the half-visible Kryptonian helmet.

He crowded him with deliberate intent, squeezing Shane's chest and pushing him back. Kissing his mouth, his neck. Trying to tell him with his lips and tongue that he was here, they were here; that what they had was sunlit and sober and real and worthy.
