Nadia stood in the corner, both dreading and anticipating the arrival of her partner to come pick her up. As a sophomore, this was the first year that she had to worry about this particular form of torture, and already she had experienced it more than once. Freshman were spared, their year spent taking the prerequisite courses in both the top and bottom tracks. Once those course requirements were satisfied, students were paired up every year thereafter.
These pairs were mainly for practice, though if one found themselves in enough trouble they were also called to pick up their disgraced bottoms. It was an expectation that the top would punish their unruly partner, even after the bottom had already been disciplined by the professor.
