“He’s an omega,” Ilya replies for him, because at the moment, all Shane can say is “ow.”
“Any chance he’s pregnant?”
“Maybe? He’s on suppressants.”
Or Shane goes into labor at the cottage, which would be fine, if he’d known he was pregnant.

Summary
“You’re my brother, Ilyusha.” Ilya felt tears begin to prickle behind his eyes at the diminutive. Shane occasionally called him that. Svetlana too. But he hadn’t heard the name in Alexei’s biting tone in what had to have been decades.
Ilyusha, finish your vegetables, his brother had said, his voice filled with the exhaustion of someone well beyond his years. They had been in their small, dated kitchen back in Moscow, sitting at the table that still had the dirty dishes from yesterday on it. Ilya was practically glaring at his plate, frustratingly pushing around the sorry looking vegetables left from the even sorrier looking meal Alexei had made for them. Their dad had probably been out with another woman and their mom unable to get out of bed, leaving Alexei to make dinner if they wanted to eat even though he had barely been tall enough to reach the kitchen cabinets.
The last person Ilya expected to hear from again was his brother. He would’ve guessed he’d talk to his parents again before Alexei, and they were dead. But, after Alexei’s wife dies, leaving him a single father to a gay daughter, he reaches out to Ilya.

Shane thinks this is probably the first - and last - time in his life that he’s ever been excited about grocery shopping. But it’s their first time doing it together, as a couple, out in public where other people can see them. Where, finally, they don’t have to pretend to be something they’re not.
It’s such a small thing - insignificant to most people, probably - but it’s a luxury Shane never thought he would be allowed to have.
