Summary
It was William Byers’s first night alone in New York. A September chill lingered in the air as he sat in the first bar he stumbled into, painfully lonely and very much under 21. Without Robin there to buy him a drink like she always did, he ordered a Pepsi and left.
Hawkins was boring, but watching the busy streets made him miss every ordinary corner of it, his friends, his family.
Back at the NYU dorms, he watched his roommate disappear into another girl’s room. Great.
The room was small but comfortable. Will lay on his bed, put on his headphones, and hit play. Me and Michael by MGMT filled the space.
“Fuck,” he murmured.
William’s last summer in Hawkins had been quite unforgettable. There wasn’t much to do in town, but a special someone made him feel like he was on top of the world, ‘til he was not.
He grabbed his notepad and wrote Fuck Michael Wheeler.
It was going to be a long night.
