Both zhongli and childe went to the same high school and they were in the same class, though, they hated each other with passion.
zhongli was a well-mannered student, he didn't speak much, was attentive and respected both his classmates and teachers.
on the other hand, childe was the complete opposite of what zhongli was, he was a complete delinquent, always disrespectful towards others and late for his classes, arrogant and straight up an asshole, exactly the type of person that the long-haired guy would despise.

“Behind you.” A deep ghostly voice whispers. A cold presence presses against Childe’s back, as if someone was standing right behind him. The presence continues and settles over his shoulder and neck before pressing against his cheek.

The eldritch entity residing there calls himself Morax, and though he speaks with touches instead of words, the rapport the two build quickly goes beyond that of mere roommates.

“Good. Because it may not come back, even once the Delusion is removed.”
“I know.” Childe drew in a deep breath. “I’m ready. For Her Majesty.”
He took one last look at the mark, black against his pale skin, and steeled himself for what was to come. Knowing Dottore, it was going to hurt.

The bar Zhongli chose was upscale, warmly lit and pleasant. Nothing like the grungy dive bars Childe frequented on his own. They got a booth in a secluded corner near the back, intimate enough to take Childe’s breath away. Zhongli’s long, elegant fingers twirled the stem of his wineglass, the gold wedding band glinting in the low light.
Childe had known the professor was married, had spotted that gold ring the very first time he’d gone to office hours. It didn’t matter, not really. Zhongli would be unattainable even if he was single. He was a fantasy, safer from a distance.
Or: Professor Zhongli doesn’t realize how unhappy he is until a reckless student crashes into his life like a storm.

The wine clogs his throat and makes him choke when he stares at his own face instead.
Childe thinks he juggles his househusband and assassin for hire personas quite well. A little too well perhaps.

“Zhongli,” Childe says, rocking them side to side slightly. “I’ve got it.”
“Got what?” Zhongli asks. It’s impossible to not smile when faced with that look - it’s something that had compelled him to want to be Childe’s friend. No one makes him smile as much as Childe can.
“I should suck you off,” Childe continues, still smiling, still rocking them from side to side. “It’s perfect. You’re sexually repressed-” Nonsense, and Zhongli scoffs- “and really bad at picking up women-” Okay, that’s true- “and I’m bisexual. I can suck dick. Good at it, even.”
Zhongli’s heartbeat is far too loud in his ears, but he’s very sure he didn’t mishear that. “Um.” That wasn’t where he thought this conversation would go, but now they’re here it’s actually surprisingly easy to imagine Childe on his knees. “But you’re… not my boyfriend?”
Zhongli knows two things about himself - that he's heterosexual, and that he's going to fail his entire degree if he doesn't get his brain to co-operate with the whole learning thing. Thankfully for Zhongli, he has a beautiful bisexual roommate who is happy to (platonically, of course) blowjob him back on track.
