For four years of college, Childe carried an unspeakable secret: a crush on Zhongli, the most elegant and respected professor at Liyue University.
Completely smitten, he purposely failed his elective just to keep seeing Mr Rex Lapis. Childe never had the courage to confess. He knew Zhongli would soon no longer teach him and everything would end there—a youthful crush buried in his memory. But fate had a way of playing tricks. At a university party, fueled by alcohol and irresponsible pranks, Childe—completely drunk and consumed by jealousy—ended up blurting out a phrase to a group of friends (some not so much) that changed everything:

And soon, the story reached Zhongli himself.

Summary
Before his eyes, Zhongli shattered into a million pieces of light.
It was blinding, and Childe covered his eyes in reflex. The light peeled away in layers, solidifying into three distinct figures.
One emerged broad-shouldered and frowning, with two horns atop his head that curled with amber tips; his very presence rattled the air. Gold kissed hands that looked more like claws, his white robes marked with dirt and ash.
Morax. The brutish God of War. From the beginning of Zhongli’s long life.
Another stepped out, with the same pair of horns as the other, clothed in regal finery, dark brown robes embroidered with threads of gold, similar to Zhongli’s current attire but far more elegant. His posture sharp, eyes cutting through the space immediately to Childe, lingering with an unnerving amusement.
Rex Lapis. The God of Commerce and Trade, the establisher of Liyue. A man for a taste of all things fine.
And in the centre, left kneeling and breathless, Zhongli himself—the man Childe knew—steadying his own balance, calm but pale.

After all, he could have sought out any other archon first, but he had come to him, the only dragon beside Neuvillette who still roamed Teyvat. Though they have each other and for a long time that seems to be enough. As spring bleeds into summer things are deeply wrong and their calm domestic life seems to wither rapidly as Baizhu's health declines.
