“It’s gonna be okay.” He murmurs once the engine is turned off and they are in the driveway of the house. Hayley turns her head to face him, as she nods, “I know. Thank you.”
The curly haired man feels a bit stupid, unsure of what the right thing to say is. There aren’t really any good things to say to a mother in this position. And Hayley was such a damn good mother, she didn’t deserve any of this.
“I love you.” He repeats sincerely.
Hayley nods again as her bottom lip wobble, “I love you too.”
The boys were at school and they had a few hours to themselves. Hayley does her usual routine after going to court, changing into gym clothes to go on a long walk and Taylor throws himself into work.
He’s got concentrated frown on his face when Hayley get back, he leans against the doorpost, watching her as she chugs down water and wipes her forehead. “Hey.”
“Hey.” Taylor exhales, “Do you - uh… do you want to shower together? Before the boys get home?”
Hayley’s stomach drops a bit. She knows the tone of his voice and what he really means. That they aren’t themselves right now and need some comfort and closeness, to be there for the boys when they come home in a bit. And he is right.
