Summary
Verso, a Parisian eccentric painter, arrives to Lumiere, a hidden Alpine village near Durance to heal his melancholia and acedia. He makes acquaintance with Reverend Father Noah, a respected and well-loved by local community priest with mysterious past, and two men form a genuine connection.
But the village is not what it seems, and neither are its residents. On the Night of Blooming Moon Verso gets a taste of something dark and ancient as he participates in an annual fertility ritual under watchful eye of Father Noah. Nothing is ever the same after this night, and Verso is possessed by desire to seduce the priest — or at the very least to know more about him.

“What the hell are you doing?” Verso slammed Gustave's back into the wall with force, and a yelp erupted from his chest. “What are you doing with me?”
“Nothing you wouldn't want.” The Writer let out a chuckle, which was almost immediately replaced by a guttural moan of pleasure as Verso pressed his whole body against him and bit the skin on the spot of his neck under his jaw. He wiggled his fingers in retaliation and felt Verso shudder and gasp nervously as the inky snake in his trousers wiggled and coiled around the base of his cock. “The question is, what are you going to do?”
Painter's hand slid into Gustave's styled and pomaded hair and mussed it. Verso pulled away and smiled like a hungry predator, wild and ready to leap.
God, how unbearably beautiful he was.

Summary
Painter duels were savage, violent affairs, confined to a canvas, torn apart by the visciousness of the Painters.
Writer duels were far more civilized, rational events, with two Writers, sitting behind a desk, attempting to drown each other in ink.
When Gustave challenges the Head of the Writer's Council - Philippe Auteur to a writer's duel - to save the life of Verso Dessendre and his family, he has every intention of rewriting the rules of engagement.
