Change is coming to Dorley Hall. Slowly, and with a great deal of complaining, but it is coming nonetheless. While they are still a long way from being a 'charitable' organisation, the selection process is becoming more... particular about what kind of boy finds themself waking up in one of those small, concrete cells.
Seen primarily through the eyes of one of these boys, this is a look at a (slightly) less coercive Dorley, and an intake that is a little different from those previous.
More sensible authors would have split this into three discrete volumes following the three major arcs of the narrative. Those authors are cowards.
This story remains canon-faithful through book 4, and is set three years ahead of the original work so minor spoilers occur from chapter 2 onwards. It does also inevitably get a little dark on occasion, which shouldn't come as much of a surprise to Dorley readers.Main Content Warning: This story, like its parent novels, contains polyamorous relationships, graphic violence, bad language, sexually suggestive scenes, characters using slurs, transphobia, homophobia, misogyny, criminal activity, non-consensual medical intervention, religious trauma and various other traumatic scenes.
