Slowly she crept across the living room and rested her hand on the latch on the door. She opened it a sliver, blinking slightly at the sight of her husband's business partner– Miss Babcock– shifting from foot to foot impatiently. Suddenly, their eyes met and Fran felt as if she couldn't breathe.
It made no sense for the woman to be here, to be dressed in her damned slacks, damned dress shirt– But before she knew it, Fran's hands had wound around the burgundy tie that adorned the woman's neck, pulling her in, shutting the door, pressing cold lips fervently against her own.
On what should've been a normal Sunday in October of 1962, turns out to to be the day to upend Fran Sheffield's life as she knows it. But, as most things do, it starts slowly.

Her fingers brushed mine as she passed me the gloves, and I was shocked to find that her hand, somehow, was colder than my own. As I took the gloves from her I caught her gaze, and felt then with a sudden, chilling certainty--though I could not say how--that she knew exactly what I was.
Grappling with her status as a newly-turned vampire, Mrs. de Winter hopes her marriage to Maxim can provide some security with regards to her "condition." But she quickly realizes she's out of her depth in society life—and life as a vampire—and finds herself turning to the one person she can trust for help.
