This fic is set in an Omegaverse society that has reached a point of tentative tolerance. The needs of alphas and omegas are accommodated in a range of ways including the use of modern medicine, protection of rights through basic legislation, and support from non-profit organisations. However, acceptance and inclusion are not a given, and intolerant attitudes are still encountered.
There are some Omegaverse basics in the notes at the end which should help with any unfamiliar terms.
