Summary
But Cal kept his gaze on his Master, lips moving in wordless apologies. He had tried. He had tried so hard. But Cal had failed. This hadn’t been the life his Master had been preparing him for. What his Master had wanted of him. He truly wanted to apologize, saying how sorry he was for failing the Jedi. For failing all of the Jedi. For failing his Master. It wasn’t new of him to think this, to wish for someone else in his position- someone who was more skilled, more experienced. Just someone...else. ...but I feel so far from it
At this point, Jason just wanted to be left alone. After nine months back in Gotham and one failed assassination attempt on his former father-figure, Jason made the executive decision to steer clear of the Bats. Even the Replacement. He instead spent his days getting his Pit Madness (mostly) under control, in addition to gathering a small but mighty criminal empire thanks to a duffle bag full of severed heads. Crime Alley finally had the protector it deserved. And whether out of fear or sheer disinterest, the Bats seemed to keep their distance.
Until the Replacement decides one reluctant rescue from the infamous Red Hood is enough to form a pseudo-alliance between them...

Summary
The Force was a weight on his shoulders, but Anakin couldn’t tell if it was trying to push him forward or reel him back.
While his men spread out, following his orders, Anakin walked deeper into the maze of white, indistinct hallways, his lightsaber drawn, the blade syncopating with the hum under his feet. Something was on. Some great lumbering machine, like a sleeping Krayt dragon.
At a certain point, he realized that he was navigating the hallways as if he knew where he was going. With a sense of purpose.
Well, this had a 70% likelihood of blowing up in his face, didn’t it?
[For once, this isn't Anakin's fault.]

Summary
What should have been protection burned away. What rose in its place was instinct, brutal and unstoppable. Now they are bound, and the bond feels like both ruin and home.
(Or, Nightwing engages Red Hood into a mating run without knowing who is under the mask.)
