In one of the Endings for Mortal Kombat 1, Nitara starts kidnapping humans to turn into breeding stock. The leading character in this story is one of those people that was kidnapped. So, she has no idea about anything regarding Outworld, Tarkat, or Mortal Kombat. She's just trying to put things together and is in survival mode.As for Baraka, he's just doing his best trying to keep people, Tarkat or not, alive. For some reason, it's always been trickier to keep Earthrealmers alive than one would expect.
Side Note and Potential Spoilers: If you notice in the tags, there's a mention of aphrodisiacs. The primary reason aphrodisiacs are even listed/mentioned in this story is because the Vaeternians are trying to make breeding livestock. When smut happens, it's because both parties consent and do their best to ensure they can legitimately make a choice in that situation. This version of Baraka is not someone that would force himself on others.
Edit: If you want to skip ahead to smut, all chapters with it have asterisks. Having context helps though.

“Had you trained harder, you would be champion,” Liu Kang said, giving the younger shaolin a soft smile.
“I am well aware, lord Liu Kang…” Kung Lao replied, unable to return the god’s expression.
Though the comment was simply in passing, his words just wouldn't leave his mind. Over and over again, that sentence repeated in his head, and every time, his brows furrowed even deeper. In an attempt to quell his frustrations by going over the god of fire’s words, the only thing he got out of this was irritation, and indignation.
At dinner, Kung Lao did his best to soften his gaze, but his tightly knit brows, upturned lip, and his stiff grip on his utensils were just about giving him away.
Kung Lao was slumped in his chair, one hand on his forehead, and the other poking at his food with a fork. He was half trying to cover his face, not wanting to be questioned about his mood, but irritability festered in his chest like a disease, a feeling strong enough that he wasn't able to squash it.
Liu Kang’s words filled his thoughts, and where he should have felt respect, he felt spite.
