Staring into the dark waters, Kokomi’s smile fell as she tugged her gloves off her hands once more. “For my people,” she whispered, vision glowing on her chest. If she squinted, would she still see the blood of the fallen staining her hands? If she let herself, would she sink into the very waters that protected the island?
A gray delusion rose to the forefront of her mind and she set her jaw. Her eyes dulled and she exhaled once more. Turning on her heel, she began to trek back to her cave, leaving the bodies that lay on the ocean bed to rest.
